SN25P / SN26P – PSU – Graphics

I’m going to be buying a pre-built Shuttle XPC. The company is an authorised Shuttle dealer and builder. 3 of the graphics card setups (amongst many) they offer are:

nVidia GF 7800GTX 512MB (SN25P and SN26P)
ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB (SN25P and SN26P)
2x Geforce 7800GTX 256MB SLI Configuration (SN26P only)

Now both the SN25P and the SN26P come with a 350 watt power supply, however from manufacturer’s literature:

For 7800 GTX, at least 400W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A). For two GeForce 7800 GTX-based graphics cards running in NVIDIA SLI configurations, a minimum 500W system powe supply (with 12V rating of 34A) is recommended.

Connection to the system power supply is required:
450-Watt power supply or greater, 30 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended (assumes fully loaded system)

Any advise appreciated

apparently shuttle PSUs don't follow those guidelines and are good enough to power that type of video cards.

the company is just covering their own asses, so they put 400 Watt with 3 hard drives, and 2 optical drives. In a shuttle you cant have 2 opticals and 3 hard drives, so its OK.

Shuttle can handle those cards no problem.

My shuttle handled my 2x 6800GTs and my 2x 7800GTX's fine. The 400/500w psus they say you need are because some manufacturers overrate their power supplies.
