hey, yesterday i did my first PC build ever, and i started with a shuttle
my components are:
3700+ San Diego
1GB OCZ RAM
74GB Raptor
7800GTX
Windows Pro XP64
now i installed everything, did the drivers from the cd - but i couldnt get my NIC card to be installed - during the install of it from the CD, the installing screen just disappers but the card can be found on add/remove programs but in my network connections i have no LAN just 1394 Network Adapter - and the card doesnt show up on my device manager
the rj45 port does work btw
so im here really distressed by this being my first build and the hardest parts i feared were the easiest and jsut gettin internet working has me been going on a rampage on my family and friends and baseball team - so any help would plzzzzzzzz be appreciated
 
how can i update the bios, just copy it to a cd? and deliver it to the shuttle - is it a .bin file?
 
download the latest bios from shuttle and you will also find a program there called winflash. This allows you to flash from within windows, as the name suggests.
 
i think its more lieky to due a incomapitble cpu. the san diego amd cpu chip. besides i dont think updating the bios to the latest version will help since i read the update revision notes and it does not say it fixers anything related to nic
