Hi All,

Just built a new SN25P, and I'm having a problem.

I slipstreamed the nvidia forceware display drivers into my WinXP install, tweaked my settings, and set up some options just for convenience's sake. I don't think it's the problem, but I thought I'd mention it.

I got windows up and running, started it up, made sure everything was working, then popped in the included Shuttle drivers CD and loaded up the chipset drivers. They installed ethernet drivers, nvidia firewall, and SMbus drivers. I restarted, installed audio drivers, and plugged in my ethernet cable.

Now the port can tell when the wire is connected, but it doesn't actually read the information coming through. It can't get an IP address (it shows a random one) and no web pages load.

Has anyone had this problem?
 
Well i dont know 'if this is the problem' :p, but this is the 'proper' driver install sequence:

WinXP > SP2 > Chipset > Hardware Accel. > Graphics > All Else....

Soooo...yeah. You mixed it up a bit.
 
For me... I would have to do Mobo CD before SP2 since i need the interweb to DL SP2
 
make sure both nvfirewall and XP firewall are disabled to eliminate them as a cause.

I've actually slipstreamed SP2 into my windows install, so i'm installing with the CD - no interweb needed.
 
whats it say when you type ipconfig /renew in the command prompt

I had this similar problem with Window xp. After fiddling around thinking it was the network cable it turns out windows decided that it was going to diable the network connection for some reason (must be a "feature"). I enabled the network and it was fine.

I had the same type of issue. My cable modem does usb as well as ethernet so I could get a connection through my USB port but not my ethernet. Then my ether just starts working. Then it slowed down to nothing, couldn't use it at all. Span of two days here. Had some software issues with a usb tv card, which I am looking for a replacement for now, so I reinstalled XP.
I did XPPro, downloaded SP2 instead of using the disk, (not sure if there is a difference) , loaded the latest nvidia chipset drivers from nvidia, shuttle drivers for sound, then ATI drivers. Not sure what I did different, but my ethernet worked the first time no problems, everything worked fine except the Nvidia IDE drivers which I usaually shun, but gave another chance this time. (They BSOD'ed my installation of Riddick, uninstalled them for the microsoft IDE drivers, all is well, feels like a good install this time).

The nvidia firewall is a bit obtusive and by default almost stops everything. I had to set mine up to a custom setting.

its also broken with some of the eithernet drivers. that is, installing the firewall with an older driver(say from the cd) then updating the drivers.

Very true. I'm using the drivers off the Shuttle CD. I tried updating with the latest from
nvidia but they really messed me up, so I rolled em' back.
 
So, I've managed to get it working... but i'm not sure why. I booted the computer, connected the ethernet cable, and in the command prompt typed ipconfig /renew. it stalled out, unable to get an IP. I turned off my cable modem, waited two minutes, plugged it in, waited for it to boot up and did ipconfig /renew again, and it worked. It's been working flawlessly since. Hopefully it will keep working.
