sn25p first boot problem..

well, i have everything hooked up and ready to go on my shuttle sn25p.. i turn on the power supply switch and the green led lights up.. then im ready to turn on the computer and when i do, the fan spins for a split second and shuts off.. an orange led near the front of the computer turns on.. it is labeled as OVER TEMP.. i have yet to turn on my shuttle and it has given me this error..

here is what i have..

shuttle sn25p
amd 3200+ venice
crap 512 ram (not even 3200)
evga 7800gt
western digital 2500ks
plextor dvd burner


i have a sata power plugged into the hard drive, 4 pin molex plugged into the dvd burner, with the pigtail 4 pin molex split into two for the 6 pin vga power adapter.. im guessing it may be that, but i have no idea what could be the problem..

if anyone has any info on this, please help me out..
 
Is the power for the FAN1 connected? It's between the RAM and the CPU.

IIRC I almost forgot this one when I built mine.
 
Have you built PCs before? Not to be smart, but to help you, it would be useful to know if you have done this before...

Ah.....wait a minute

crap 512 ram (not even 3200)

I don't know of any newer system that requires less then 3200....there is your problem
 
yes ive built systems before..

im just using a stick of ram that's been lying around.. i will be upgrading to a gig stick later on..



i isolated every component on my system and it seems as though my sn25p cant handle the evga 7800gt.. when i take out the 7800gt, it runs w/o the overtemp led coming on.. i even took out all of the components to see if it could at least handle the 7800gt w/o anything else, but still orange led..

i thought maybe it could be my 7800gt.. but i checked it on my a8n-sli and sure enough, it works like a charm.. i will try rma'ing the shuttle and see if they send me a good one..
 
hmm.. well i found out for a fact that it's the video card.. i have a computer i use regularly with a 7800gtx and i tried putting it in the shuttle and sure enough, it worked like a charm.. i am setting up windows with the 7800gtx on the shuttle.. hopefully i can switch them back after it's set up and it'll be fine..

since the gtx is in the shuttle right now, i have the gt on my computer and it works fine.. so it cant be the video card..

does anyone have a sn25p with an evga 7800gt 460/1100???

please let me know!!!!!
 
I encountered this exact issue. Have eVGA 7800 GT. SN25P fans will come up for a split second and then it will shutdown. The motherboard red llight will come on. I was quite disappointed and ready to send back the card to newegg, but decided to play more with it.

First I downloaded the recently released bios from eVGA and flashed it (lot of people are complaining about the bios that comes on the card has wrong clock speeds). That didn't help.

Second, just for the heck of it, I swtich my power molex from one to the other connector on the card - I have only one power connection. Well - on my 3rd try the system powered up :).

I have it running now just fine. 3dmark05 gave a score of about 7500 without any overclocking. The system still does not start every time, but reset the power swtich and within 2 to 3 tries it comes on fine. Not sure why, but I do not shutdown my machine very often, so it should not be a big deal (hopefully).
 
ive got the same problem...
Specs:
SN25P
athlon 64 4000
1gb (2x512 kingston hyper x) ram
1x 200gb maxtor diamondmax 10 hdd (i had 2 in raid 0, but the raid failed yesterday, faulty hdd me suspects)
XFX 7800gtx pci express

It was running fine for a couple of weeks till the raid went down yesterday, reinstalled on one hdd alone and it worked fine all night. untill today when i come to turn it on again, there is the constant green LED on the mobo indicating a power connection, but when i press the power button, the green LED is accompanied by a little red led... and nothing else.

The fans spin momentarily, and thats it. Nothing was/has been overclocked, it was all stable and at a healthy temperature during its "normal" period..

I really dont want to send this thing back, its such hassle. and at the moment im getting serious rage issues from the little POS!!!!
so yea, if anyones got any suggesstions?

oh and after removing the gfx card, powering the machine on without it, then refitting it, it worked. i then updated the shuttle bios by flashing it. Now i get NO display whatsoever. sigh...

im thinking that the evga just drains more power than any other video card.. maybe the bios update will help.. i tried my bfg 7800 GTX and it worked fine.. looks like its just compatibility issues with the evga..
 
mines an XFX and the problem still exists, im taking it back to my dealer. I dont have the time to piss about with it anymore :(
 
Had the same problem.

I exchanged the processor from a 3000+ to a FX-60, and then the SN25P refused to boot with "Over temp led" lid.
Videocard is Club 3D 7800GT
