SN25P Cardreader question

I have a digital camera that uses one of the formats accepted by the SN25P's cardreader. However, I'm not quite sure how I use the thing. I put the card in and everything, but I can't get pictures off of it. Do I need some kind of software?

EDIT: When I click the drive in Windows it tells me it needs to be formatted.

Well I assume you have the card drivers installed. Also dod you actually have any pics on the card? Just wandering.

Yeah there are pictures on the card. If I format the card can I still use it in the camera?

File manager should be able to see it no problems. You might have it hooked up wrong...No special software is needed...

File manager as in Windows or as in some software shuttle provides? When I click the card in My Computer it tells me it needs to be formatted, so I formatted it, and now it doesn't work in the camera (yes I know formatting deletes everything, I can just retake the pictures).

Nah, I have an SN85 and built an SN25, both with the built in card reader, and WinXP just works. It prompts me to open the device to view the images on it. Also, make sure you're not inserting the card in upside down or anything too....
