SN25P & 6800 GT problem :(

I traded my friend one of my AGP 6800 GTs for his PCI-E 6800 GT. His was new, still under warrantee, but all he gave me was the box with none of the paperwork. When I plug in the power line up my SN25P will not power on unless one (and only one) of the lines in the GT's Y cable is connected. Should the 6800 GT not work if I plug in both Molex plugs in or is the card borked?
 
That sounds really odd. Make sure all the connectors are snug, and that the wires for both connectors match (yellow in the right spot, red in the right spot). Does it work with only one connector?
 
I wouldn’t know if it works with one or not since I am using my other AGP shuttle in the meantime. All I know is that when two plugs are placed in the Y cable the PC will not boot. If only one is then it will but (without RAM, CPU or HDD) will not display BIOS or anything like that.
 
If you don't have your ram or cpu in, it will not POST no matter what. From what I understand, you are putting just the card in the SN25P and expecting something to show up? Nothing should, since it is not POSTing.
 
No it is not just that FlameboyC11. Should I have to plug both power lines (standard Molex ends) into the 4pin to 6pin Y adaptor or should I only be plugging in one? If I 'have' to plug in both then something is wrong since my PC will not boot if I do that.

To those who own both products; did you have to plug both ends in or did you only have to plug one? Seems odd I would have to plug 2 seeing as how the AGP GT only used one 4 pin plug.
 
If there are two female molex plugs on the adapter, then I would think you would have to plug in two molex plugs to fill them. Those babes need to be satisfied! :D

See if there is a manual you can download online, either from the manufacturer or another maker.

Only one female connector on the adapter for my X850XT...

Either way, as long as you don't get shutdowns while gaming overclocked, I don't think it matters. One molex + the PCI-E slot should provide more than enough power.

I have been looking but can not find anything, not so much as a review that shows that as well. You are right though, the cable that he gave me has two female parts but perhaps it is not the original? Perhaps the one I need only as one like your ATI one. I would really like for someone to confirm this before I take my old system apart and try it out.

I run mine with both, seems to work ok, but I did just split one molex to two.
 
It really shouldn't matter if one or two are connected. What else do you have connected to this system? Also, you need to have something in there besides the video card. From what I understand, you don't.
 
Make sure each connector is connected to a different molex that is coming directly out from the PSU, do not try to connect both to a single split molex... bad bad bad. Also, it sounds like your PSU is having a heck of a time "booting" up because that's where it draws a lot of power trying to spin all the hard drives up, powering up graphics card, etc.

*Edit: And not sure if it is true for the 6800GT but the 7800GTX will work with only 1 molex connected but will be throttled back. It leads me to believe this will be the same case.

Turns out the card really was screwed up. I returned it and got a new GT and I am now on my new Shuttle :D. I hope to get the 7800GTX 'soon' but for now I am happy as can be with my new little box.
