Hi everyone,

Glad to have to found this forum. I have a little problem with my two month old Western digital 500gb drive. Firstly, its a really noisy drive, it makes the common thrashing sound but much louder than my samsung.

But the main problem is that the power on hours time count has been decreasing. It came down from 100 to 96 and then just yesterday came down to 95. Is this an indication of anything unusual or should I expect failure when it hits say 80 or maybe 50? I keep the drive on all the time and it gets pretty heavy activity so Im wondering what could be the problem. I assumed the WD should be reliable enough to use 24hrs a day--the samsung drive has no such problems with the power on hours count.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks a lot:confused:

download WD's Diagnostic Tool and run a short test and extended test.

the diagnostics show everything is fine, I chk my SMART stats so why would I not run diagnostics as well
