A German company is changing the way we could utilize indoor sports spaces by developing a new clear floor covering. The system is called ASB Glassfloor and uses built-in LEDs to create a changeable pattern on the floor to accommodate different boundary lines for different sports. The programmable LEDs can also be used to display advertisements, which will probably catch the eye of prospective buyers.

When combined with sensor technologies, this type of flooring could alter how sports are played and judged.

Pretty neat. I have a feeling that the US won't see this implementation for quite a while as some of our NBA courts are merged with NHL rinks. Switching between the two would be a pain with the glass floor.

I think they did this a long time ago on the dance floor in Saturday Night Fever.

awesome for sibling children too, now we can clear definable "space" that is theirs... hell could make a game out of it, if one of them acts up they lose a couple square feet of "their side of the room" :D

Thought of something like this years ago for a new bowling game. Not all that revolutionary, tbh.

Great, we'll get "Super Puck" 2.0 except this time the entire field will keep changing. Though it opens up some new options for games. You thought football was hard? Try playing football that could suddenly change to volleyball!

More space to cram advertising, because there isn't enough already in sports! These poor leagues can barely afford to pay the multi-million dollar salaries of the players, coaches, and owners through gouging their fans alone!
