Hi, newbie here!
So, I'm planning to build a case for my HTPC from scratch and I've been thinking about several designs keeping in mind one simple goal: creating the smallest case possible for my setup. I'm looking for some advice regarding this.
I have a mini-itx mobo (ionitx-a-u with external power supply -which rocks!-, it has a quite tall heatsink), a 3.5" HD and an optical (bd-rom, slot, slimline laptop-like), that's it. This is the design I want to evaluate:
____________________________
| --hd-- | --bd-rom------- |
----------------------------
|................oqow......|
|_______[ == F A N == ]____|
_| |____________________| |___________(table or whatsoever surface)
You got it right: I want my mobo upside down, with a case fan facing to the base, there would be maybe an inch between the base of the case and the surface on which i'd put it.
Do you see any problem with this? is it dangerous to install the motherboard upside down? as I'm planning to remove the cpu fan and use the big case fan only, what would be the best air flow direction, blow or suck the cpu? thanks a lot!
