Smaller cooler for Reference 5870?

Just recently purchased a Storm Scout as it met most of my requirements in a new case. However, I discovered that apparently 5870s do not fit in the case. Rather than taking a dremel to the HD cage, I was looking for a cooler that would reduce the overall length of the card to something that will fit (10.5", I believe). The accelero extreme is right out at 11.3 inches, yet this seems to be the most recommended cooler. The Thermalright spitfire looks like it'll work, but I worry about clearance issues between the side. Anyone have any experience with the Spitfire? If not, are there any other ideas for a decent aftermarket cooler that might fit my needs? Thanks in advance.

IIRC, the 5870 PCB itself is just as long as the heat sink assembly, getting a shorter heat sink won't make the card any shorter.

I was under the impression that it was quite a bit smaller, to the point where non-reference 5870s fit in the case because the stock heat sink assembly is replaced by a custom setup.

The rear of the stock cooler does come to a slight point and by removing both the front cooler and backplate you will gain a small very small amount of wiggle room.

Although I have only did this to install water-blocks so I can not suggest any good aftermarket coolers.

Just a couple I have used in the past:

Never used this but have used the single fan version with good results: http://www.zerotherm.net/eng/product/CM3000.asp

This says it will fit and is a bit smaller:
