Small Tablet PC reccomendations

I am just hearing about tablet PC's and they seem to suit a need that I have. I have a full fledged i5 notebook, but it really doesn't get used that much and I want something small and portable for media/browsing. I also want to use it for controlling music on my HTPC during parties. Win 7 seems the way to go since I want to control my HTPC for music during parties. I am really not aware of much that is out there, other than a quick read on this article. Looking up reviews has me discouraged that the ATOM processor is SLOW as hell.

I am currently leaning towards the Lenovo S10-3t (A 8-9" would probably be better though, and better battery life)

What do you all recommend?
It seems like the HP Slate is exactly what I am looking for, but its not out :(

Have you considered an iPod Touch or an iPad?

I gave short consideration to a touch before I saw the prices and knowing about the new/upcoming small tablets. The touch only really got my interest for the remote features to control music on my HTPC during parties. They are way to many "I don't like" things about them for me to consider an touch/ipad now.

Also, my wife and I am going to get rid of the powerhouse laptop we just got to get something more portable like this that we would use much more. So I do need her to be able to run Windows apps and have PC features as well.

If your just using it as a glorified controller then any "tablet" weather it has a atom or not s irrelevant.

Well, also web surfing around the house would be nice as well. I would like to control my music from across the house as I can crank up the volume and hear it throughout the house or from outside as I do have speakers outside as well.

The HP Slate is rumored to be coming out in June, I really would wait for that device because if the HP tm2 Tablet is any indication it should be a killer device. I was hoping that they were going with a C2D CULV CPU but it looks like it's going to be Atom based, which kind of sucks, there's a lot more that could be done on a C2D.

And it will be $500 from what I'm hearing so if you hold on for a month to 6 weeks we should know something solid.

I'm DEFINITELY getting one or two.

I am really unsure if I want a tablet or netbook convertible (netvertible). I was reading the Lenovo forums today and lots were pleased with their s10-3t choice...

Yeah that's a nice device but a little redundant for me since I have a tm2 but I might sell my Asus 1000 Eee PC and pick one of these up or something similar in the future.

Acer is supposed to have a similar device to the s10-3t was announced last fall but I've not see it yet.

I've seen the U820 go as low as $400 on eBay (brand new). I'm planning to get one pretty soon, looks to be a nice piece of equipment.

I bit on the Lenovo s10-3t from J&R Music for $459-$25BCB = $434 after Bing.

If I do not like it I think I can eBay it with no problem.

I really want the Gigabyte t1000p or t1000x that are coming out, but I am thinking they will be $600+

I can totally recommend the Lenovo s10-3t. Grabbed mine from bestbuy with reward zone points. The multitouch is pretty cool, but it really does need another gig of ram.

:D I have a replacement RAM and have an upgrade key for Windows 7 Pro already :).

Any updates? I'm looking to get a S10 myself. Did you go with it?
