Heya,

Trying to figure out a small network backup solution and need some advice.

I'm thinking about one of those Maxtor push button external backup hard drives. Would be connected to it's own PC and use the included software to (hopefully) go across the network to selected files and back them all up. I'm talking about 7 computers on the network.

Would this work? Seems too simple for some reason. If anyone has a better suggestion, please add your input, would be appreciated. :)

I think I know what you're talking about. :) But there could be a problem with the software not liking the \\name\folder but I don't see why it wouldn't work if you mapped some network drives to the files that needed to get backed up.

You're talking about a drive like this right?

Maybe someone that has one can tell you for sure if it works or not.

You could set up a DFS root directory on the local machine, and then have your backup solution back that up...
