i just have a couple of questions for you guys that have put small lcd's on your rigs. i have 2 rigs with lcds on them now (they came with them) but i want to add some to my others.

i am talking about the little 16x2 or 20x2 20x4 ect sizes that people use to display cpu temp and fan speed ect.

here are the questions.

what type of lcd do you use. not the manufacturer so much as the model.

how do you interface them? usb, serial, parallel?

what software do you use to run them?

do you have any sources on where to get the lcd module cheep?

thanks for any help!

actually i have no problem with diy, i have a couple of hd44780 lcds sitting here now. my main question is how people are interfacing them, i know about arduinos. and maybe that is how most people are doing it, just wondering about alternative ways to interface them to the pc

thanks for the link, looks like good info. i had just looked at the lcd smartie and saw something about and ftdi chip the other day. ill look into it some more.
