I had a little green (I'm guessing algae) buildup on my waterblock. I was able to clean most all of it off, I just need some way to clean out the radiators. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

white vinegar, 50/50 mix with distilled water. Let it soak for a day, rinse with distilled water, and repeat as needed.

What's your entire setup? most loops won't grow algae, this could be indicitive of a more serious problem.

Vinegar in the rad works wonders if it's copper. If it's aluminum then I use 10% HCL... not too sure what you could use instead.

come to think of it i think the coolant from the auto store was green not blue. which would account for the green tint to the build up... however its very very dark, almost blackish, and is a pain in the butt to clean off the waterblocks and probably going to be even more of a pain to get out of the radiator

Looks like Galvanic corrosion to me... Copper parts turn a grey-green colour when exposed to this phenomenon. I mean, if you're running black Tygon and some sort of antifreeze, what else can it be?

I'd get on electrically isolating those aluminum parts... Rubber washers to prevent them from touching their mounting plate.

Seriously, get some pics up (if you can) and I'll compare it to the corrosion nightmare I dealt with last month.

ya i know i've wanted to get pics up for awhile now, my girlfriend has my camera. I'll try and get it from her and take some later today.

well the only aluminum part that I have is the innovatek fass-o-matic. The fins on the radiators might also be aluminum. Any ideas on how to clean it up ?
