Is Firefox really such a resource hog that I can't run Adium and Azureus as well?

For awhile, my macbook performs just fine, but before too long, I'll notice a serious slow down on Firefox. I'll close firefox and reopen it and all is well for awhile, but the same thing continues to happen.

What the fuck is the issue? It wasn't like this at first, but now I can't seem to do anything to keep my macbook's performance at what it should be.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I hate firefox for the mac. I use Safari because its the best all around unfortunately.

The Firefox 3 beta is better, but still not perfect.

Sure its not the P2P slowing you down?

I remember Firefox being really slow in Mac OS X. I ended up using Safair and have been much happier with it. It's not really a solution but if you can, I say give Safari a try.

Safari leaks memory too. Long term use I've hit 700mb with only 3 tabs or so.

I am also suffering from the same thing with firefox on mac, use Safari, it's not perfect, but it's loads better

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Azureus might also be the problem. I've had it closed since last night and haven't had any issues since then. However, when I do see the slow down occur, I usually close down Itunes, Firefox and Azureus all together and then reopen Firefox while having kept Adium open the whole time. Also, on average, I have 7-8 tabs open.

Within 20-30 minutes I see the slow down again...

Firefox is what I'm used to, and I really am not all that fond of Safari....are there any other web browsers that I can try out?

I haven't had problems with Firefox in OSX, but you can try Opera. I use it mainly on my linux boxes, but the OSX version works well.

Azureus is a BIG resource hog. not sure if utorrent works with macs but utorrent 1.6.1 is best torrent client i have found.
