Just upgraded to Sandy mainly to get SATA III and did a quick auto OC up to 4.4ghz. I only scored 5771 which is wierd since I scored 5923 with my 860 @ 4ghz. I did have DDR3 2000mhz ram on the 860 and I am running some temporary 1333ram on this 2600K. Would that really make that much difference?

In a synthetic benchmark like 3dmk11 yes ram makes a difference especially on the CPU test portion.

Also you might be running different background software now that you were not running on the 860 before that might be taxing your system in different areas.

with my 2600K and my signature system below I get right at 10,000 marks.

Also do you have HT turned off on the 2600K? It will get a better score on the CPU Physics test with it on.

Ht is on. I have less background programs running since its a fresh load. I am thinking ram is the issue.

I went from 3.4ghz to 4.4ghz and saw barely any change in 3dmark2011 score. I went from 4.4ghz to 4.8ghz then tossed in some 2133mhz ram over some 1333mhz ram and saw a nice jump and beating my old score with my old machine. I know its synthetic but I didn't expect ram to make that much difference.

yea, I overclocked my 2600k to 4.5GHZ and benchmarks didn't produce higher fps. Is RAM my problem as well?

I'm in the same dilemma. I was getting better scores with my i5 750 @ 4ghz than my 2500K @ 4.5ghz with the same video card. But it's only 3DMark and I don't care for that so I shrug it off. I blame the loss on performance on the P67 chipset. I'm not impressed with it.

I went from 4.8 to 5 ghz and my scores changed a lot. I think maybe you just need a tiny bit of extra vOltage to it. But my scores are random. At 4.8 the CPU scores were random and inconsistent. I upped voltage in the end. Is it fully stable?

Forget stupid futuremark benches. Worthless, tailored to certain aspects. A sandy at 4.8 to 5 ghz is killer, absolutely killer if setup right.

care to give before and after results with benchmarks? Personally I get no performance gain at 4.5GHZ in FC2, Heaven, RE5 Benchmarks or in game with any game you care to mention. So I'm wondering if RAM is my problem as with the OP?

That was kind of the point.. to see if it was running right. I wasnt trying to win a bench contest. It apparently was ram holding it back. Saw a nice improvement in games too.

Its because its the best sandy bridge memory on the market... the best always has a premium ... show me a cheaper ddr3-2133 that can do cas 7 24/7

Yes... but is it worth the nearly $100 premium over a regular 9-9-9-24 kit? Can you actually feel a difference in everyday use? IMO I don't think so.

Some ppl notice microstutter .... some ppl notice faster memory.... this is a [H]ard forum .. if you want the best I just showed you the way....

Ill stick with the 1.5v version of their 2133mhz ram.

I guess your CPU might be throttling down and I know there is a setting for the max power current/draw- if those are set too low that might be the reason you are seeing those numbers.

Who you talking to? My issue was resolved a few posts up. Had nothing to do with throttling.

Even with the memory helping a bit I've been a sandy bridge adopter since the day the motherboards came out. I mean I may have been the first community member to get a motherboard and processor since I live so close to a newegg facility and I have noticed that this architecture simply doesn't do as well in synthetic benchmarks. Where this stuff really shines is in Real world performance benchmarks. I could care less if 3dmark 11 is 1100 points less when my rig will run 10fps faster than your 1366 in actual gameplay LOL

Uh disable vsync. You're also pretty much maxing out that single card.
