Slow System Clock

I got a new laptop and it seems fine except the clock is extremely slow. It wont let me sync it over the net and it seems that whenever I run any form of slightly demanding program it goes super slow (I play portal for 30 min com back and its 20 behind). I doubt anything is really holding it back but I dont know what this is. Any idea how I can fix this and what causes it?

My system is:
msi ms-163a
c2d t7700
2gb ram
vista prem
8600m

Edit:
I caught what it does. I was watching the clock when it was 920 and it suddenly reverted to 823. I had set it to 823 manually at... 823 so im wondering if its a motherboard issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing it's something to do with the battery on your mobo...I'll check to see if MSI has anything on their site for problems like this.

same in bios, it wont let me sync for some reason. Probable not windows. The strange thing is a reverts back to exactly what I set it about one every hour. So right now it reads 918 but in about 5 min itll be back to 823 again. It does this even when the notebook is turned off

Wow...um...that's definitely weird. I tried looking for a while but to no avail. The only thing I suspect is the CMOS/clock/BIOS battery could be bad...you might call up MSI and ask them what to do. Although, tech support usually isn't very helpful in situations like this.
