Hey all,

In the process of coping ~32GB of data of my Lexar 32gb Class 10 SHDC and I'm noticing the read speed is only hovering around 10-11MB/s which seems a bit slow for me.

Is this right or is there something wrong with the card? The other thing I noticed was that my laptop was very finicky when I put the card in the slot. Took a number of times for me to actually view any folders, photos, copy files, etc.). In the past (with different cards), I had no issue with this.

What kind of files are you dealing with?

Many smaller files tend to result in a slower copy rate compared to a single larger file of the same size.

Could also be the laptop SD card slot going bad?

You can rule something out if you have another card and put in a large file (>200mb/ISO perhaps?) on both and checking the read speed.

Note the phrase "Class 10"

aka: That speed is as per spec for that card. Class 10 == 10 MB/sec write speeds.

The only cards that are faster are the UHS-1 cards but the reader has to support those.

Nope, that's right on the button for Class 10.
