Slow internet conection only on my computer

For some reason my computer downloads significantly slower and gets low results on speed test than my brothers computer even out of the same connection. This occured a while ago but I have been at college and haven't had time to deal with it. Its the difference between 300KB/s and 750KB/s so its still very useable but I would rather get the full bandwidth. I don't have any firewalls set up and Im using AVG. I've tried updateing the drivers without sucess.

Athlon 64 3200+
ASUS AV8 Deluxe
2x512 Geil pc3200
Geforce 6800NU

you wouldnt happen to be using a belink 54g wireless card, would you? :p

My brothers rig thats about 2 meters away from the AP cant pull more than ~5KBps, while I can suck close to 1.5Mbps off the same AP. No luck in finding out what was going on.
 
No Im using hardwired ethernet, and the difference comes even with the same outlet and cable.
 
I put a lan card in and it gets the higher speeds I was looking for. Any idea what I could do to make the motherboard lan work as I had to borrow the lan card.

I installed these drivers.
