All right, I was all set on the 947U and now Thermalright has introduced the 948U heatsink. I read about it at Thermalright and am still confused on which one to get for the P4 3.2GHz Northwood and Soyo Dragon2 (Platinum Edition) MB with Panaflo 92mm fan as a HS fan. Any suggestions?

I use a 900u, works great. 44c full load @ 3.7ghz with a 92mm sunon.

The difference between the SLK-947 and SLK-948 is that the 948 is larger wich is suppose to cool better. But in a practical way I doubt that it will make a big difference.

I have the SLK-800 and found an SLK-948 on eBay for cheap.
Im now selling the SLK-800 even tought I dont have much better temp with the 948. My Bro has a 947 thats why I know about the size difference.

Ah, yes, I should have said I knew it was for the A64. I did read the specs on the 948 at Thermalright though. I'll just get the 947 because I know it fits the MB I'm getting and I don't have to worry about the 948 being too big and getting in the way of capacitors like the SP94 might.

They just say that it is designed for the more powerful processors in mind and give the A64 as an example; I'm sure it's fine with the P4 Northwoods and I'm sure it's even better with a P4 Prescott.:D
