slk-900u weight on socket :S?

If mounting holes aren't an option, would the weight of the slk-900u mounted with the clip on the socket with a 92mm tornado on it be too much? Is it risky for transporting or moving around?

Alot of people use this setup I'm sure, I'm just paranoid somehow, I think I read about some sockets flying off or other craziness, or just the hs coming dislodged.
 
Use the 4 holes to mount that heat sink if you can.

I'd be worried with that heatsink on the socket alone, not to say the weight of those fans are very heavy indeed.

Also, remove the heatsink during transportation if you can, the rattles etc. would sure do something to those heavyweights.
 
the clip on my 900a is very tight, i wouldnt worry about it unless your really really jarring your computer in transport. maybe if you were shipping it i would take it off, otherwise i wouldnt worry about it. if you were really worried about it you could just lay your computer on its side while in transport.
 
I'm planning on modding it to fit into a sn45g, so it will always be sitting flat anyways. Too bad the ice mounting holes are different then the hs mounting holes.

go with the sp series from thermalright then. even better results when the pipes are flat.
 
The sp-97 needs to be screwed through mounting holes around the socket. The holes for the ICE system arent the same sadly.
