Found this program and liked the whole idea of it.
NLite
According to this you can add your service packs and drivers and such to your install and remove certin componants that you dont want!
I have not tried this out yet....i have made a slipstreamed XPPro disc before and it was not as simple as this sounds.
Here is a guide on how to use it!

I personally believe this is the most comprehensive guide to Slipstreaming:
http://unattended.msfn.org/

You will want the Intermediate/Advance. Shows you how to do Drivers/Service Packs/Programs/Customize the GUI all during/Post install (All Unattended)

You have used this than? I am a novice at scripting at best!
Not sure if it would be over my head or not! :rolleyes:

I was a total n00b at this and the scripting was not too hard. Of course the disc has not been tested yet though. ;)

I sure i could learn.....but the GUI to do this ....ooooh....ahhhh! :p

Well it shows you how to do everything, and mostly they show you alternative ways.

I did bookmark it...it looks like great info.....thanks!
I may have to give that a whirl as well. :D

I did it msfn's way, it worked quite nicely. It's nice to have a vmware box around so you can test without burning a cd. :)

I ended up with a CD that understands sil3112 raid, intel raid, and doesn't need a CD key entered. Pretty nice, if you plan on using Windows ever again. :p

Whatever fold-server guru! :p
Thanks for the good review though!
I may try it out, still want to try that ghost setup i have in mind.

With Ghost/images I've never had a need to slip stream anything. Always meant too, just never had a reason yet.

Mage- You don't use Windows but take the time to slip stream and install huh...

that means that it is broken.

i did this before mage did (got a 200gb sata drive to replace a damaged IDE 120gb, so... reinstall time! and i loathe floppies) and i got lan, SP2, nVidia nforce2 SATA drivers, and the CD key into an install. i will say this, though: i am DAMN glad i have cdrws. it took a couple tries.

marty: although mage doesn't use windows anymore, i do, and i guess he wants a contingency plan in case he can't use my computer to play games anymore:rolleyes:

Professional geek!= Mage :p

The ghost image will be for something else. I want an up to date copy of XP as well!
The ghost image will have other programs on as well.

Now, how do you evaluate that? Is that (professional geek!) = mage or (professional geek) != mage?

Y'see, != means not equal to... ;)

I told you i dont code! :p
How about the best damn geek!

Slipstreaming doesn't look like the easiest way, at least with my extremely limited coding experience. I'm old, and learning as I go. ASR's seem like miracles to me. Recently used an ASR to port a windows install, to a different RAID controller, in the same box. Everything was back where it belonged, and the WU in progress, picked right back up, where it left off :) .
