Hey all,

So I was debating whether to put this in the Optical & Backup Drives forum, but since that's rarely trafficked (and I think more interest might be present in this one anyway), figured I'd post it here.

I have a Silverstone FT-03 and when I built my system I simply used an external DVD-RW drive to install Windows and other applications I needed, then simply disconnected it. I've been on the lookout for either a really cheap internal DVD-RW drive (has to be slot load and slim), or otherwise a decent deal on a slot-load, slim Blu-Ray drive.

I found this on eBay, but it almost looks too good to be true, so wanted to get input as to whether anyone might foresee issues with it: [ame="http://cgi.ebay.com/Lite-On-DL-4ETS-Blu-Ray-Combo-BD-ROM-Slot-DVD-RW-Drive-/250778077272?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item3a6389c858"]http://cgi.ebay.com/Lite-On-DL-4ETS-Blu-Ray-Combo-BD-ROM-Slot-DVD-RW-Drive-/250778077272?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item3a6389c858[/ame]

$35.99 for a slim, slot-loading Blu-Ray drive seems almost like too good of a deal, given it also has DVD+/- RW and CD-RW capabilities. I tried doing some research on this model, but it appears it's been found in a few HTPC systems and that's about it. Any thoughts?

The $20 shipping makes this a good deal, but not too good to be true, in my opinion.

Yeah, it just seems like a great price given that when I was searching online for slot-loading slim Blu-Ray combo drives, the prices I was usually seeing were $100-150, so $36 (even with the $20 shipping) seems like a steal.

Plus, not to sound bad, but given it's originating from China, I'm somewhat concerned it could end up being a knock-off. The feedback for the item has been good so far though.

Asrock uses this guy in a lot of their tiny HTPC systems, the lowest I've seen them typically is like $70ish so for them to reach $55 isn't that far off.

Being from China makes a knock off a possibility too. Might be worth it to roll the dice.
