slight MX500 problem?

once and a while I'll move the mouse down and on the screen it will go up. I may be hitting a button on the top at the same time, but I don't think so. Any reason why this mouse would do this or skip? Is it a mouse setting in Mouseware somewhere that I need to change?

My brother had the same (or a similar) problem - it was a small hair stuck close to the lens on the bottom of the mouse.
Other than that, same mouse (Mx500) and no problems for almost a year.

if I alt+tab out of CS and browse around and a round restarts my mouse goes to the upper left hand corner at the beginning of the round no matter what, otherwise it works fine.

Happened with two of my logitech mouse; the dual optical mouseman and currently the mx700. I realized it was my mouse pad, so I scrapped it and just use the table.

That's part of the problem. I'm using the table (very smooth and new) and this is still happening. Just every so often I'll move the mouse down and it'll move up on the screen and I have to keep moving it down again and it finally moves down. What is the best surface to use with the MX500? Do I need to change some of my mouse settings and which ones?

Opitical mice do not like REALLY reflective surfaces, like mirrors or tables with glass tops. Those mice pads with the dual image effect to them really screw em up too.

Maybe it doesn't like my shiny new simulated wood surface. What would be a good mouse pad then?

......I've checked around a little and it seems like my best choices would be the RatPadz GS or X-Trac Micro. What do you guys think?

I don't know many people that would recommend the RatPadzGS because it is a problematic mousepad - you will wind up going through 2-3 a year.
