My brother just picked up a Panasonic 42 inch LCD TV of which has a SD Card reader in the front of it. It is pretty neat, you can plug in a SD card, and use the remote to browse through the images on the SD card and you can also setup a slideshow with setting variables such as how much time between each image.

I went to BestBuy the other day to check out on this technology and found that they only had one model at BestBuy with USB OR SD Card reader, and it was made by Panasonic and it was a 50 inch. When I spoke with two BestBuy home theare employees about it, they had no idea what I was talking about.

Basically I was thinking of doing this with a similar 42 inch LCD TV which doesn't have a USB nor SD card reader, but it has the usual, S-Video ports and VGA or DVI port to plug a PC in.

My question is this:

Is there a device out there that is small that you can plug into a normal TV to play the digital media on the device, such as a SD, Flash, Compact Flash, ETC? Something that uses S-Video or VGA/DVI cable device? I think it would be a cool effect for a local wedding I am helping out with here shortly where we can just put the bride and grooms images on a SD card and then put onto their large 50 LCD TV they have in their living room without actually needing a SD card reader or USB port on the TV. Suggestions?

Alot of cameras have a composite out for doing just this. If you (or someone you know) has a camera with this sort of output that will accept your cards, it should do the job.

Otherwise, I'm sure there are external solutions, I just think this would be more convenient.

SanDisk SDV-1A Digital Photo Viewer

Google it. Anyway there are a bunch of devices that do this. Hell I think you can use the sd slot on the nintendo wii to view pictures.

hehe, yeah, I don't think we want a Nintendo Wii hanging out right next to the TV showing wedding pictures. Nor a camera. Needs to be small enough to not be seen.

You can hide a wii behind the tv or something.......

Anyway that Sandisk one I mentioned should be able to do what you want. Dazzle use to make one too but I couldn't find it on there website.
