I'm looking for some software that will allow a user to easily create some type of simple slide show of their pictures with maybe some music that you can burn to a CD or DVD for playback on another computer.

A friend wants to be able to send this to her family and friends and just wants a nice little piece of software. I've never really looked for this type until now, has anyone seen anything good around?

Maybe I'm missing something here but..... is there any reason that Windows Movie Maker wouldn't work?

Like I said, I might be missing something, but if all you need is a slide show with a music background, it should do the trick.... at least I think it would.

yeah, there are tons of programs that do this. PowerPoint would be the easiest/cheapest (the open-office version is free - can't remember what the PPT equivilant is called), windows movie maker, LightRoom, Flash... etc.

Presentation... but honestly Movie Maker is the simple solution. I use PowerPoint every day for work, and it's certainly not rocket science, but Movie Maker was really designed to do exactly what the OP wants...

I guess I was looking for something easier than those programs. I'm sure there is bundled software out there where you can do this. Something you just drag and drop a few images, pick out a MP3 and go.

I am not trying to sound rude, but have you ever used Windows Movie Maker? I have to assume you haven't because..... it does exactly what you want it to do... drag and drop the pics you want, place then where you want, you can add transitions if you want, and simply import the MP3 you want and your done....

Once your done, you can change slide timing, transition effects etc... but it's not a requirement... you can simply drag and drop and be done with it...

It's not for me, otherwise I would use this or something more complicated.

Seriously, Windows Movie Maker is as simple as it gets. Like the poster above said it's literally drag an drop all the way.

If they have Vista they can even use 'Windows DVD Maker' which is basically the same thing, but it will let them master it on a DVD at the end.
