SLI with multiple monitors

I have not yet installed an SLI setup (got to save up for another 9800) but I have read a little bit about it. My understanding is that it will only support one monitor. In my case (Flight Simulator X) I have one large monitor for the 'cockpit' and a second monitor on the side for my instruments and gauges. Losing that second monitor would be a real bummer... is there anyway to do SLI for the main monitor and then use the generic on board VGA or use a cheapo video card for my second monitor ? thanks ! :D

You are correct about SLI only supporting a single monitor. The Nvidia Big Bang II promises
SLI connectivity features
Display connectivity
Quality improvements
Performance improvements
OpenGL 3.0
I'm not running dual monitors, so I can't state yes or no on your question about a third card for the second monitor. Though others have posted it works and they use it.

P.S. I should have stated AFAIK their use of the third card was for leaving a web site open/system stats etc. Not the game.

Is the setup in the other posts quite involved ?

You could research Matrox DualHead2Go to see if it might be what you're looking for.

Just do a search and you'll get plenty of hits to read through.

Yeah I have looked at that... and it is cool, but I need a second monitor that is showing something completely different... not just expanded. Though the Matrox is very cool !

only solution really is SLI 9800 then get a cheap PCI card to power the second monitor, many people in this forum have done it in cluding myself whether it be PCI or PCIE, there have been couple threads in the past on this same issue.

i had sli 8800GTs with a 7600GT running a second monitor. worked well.

ok, is it as simple as adding the card and windows recognizes it and then you have the dual monitor control back in the Nvidia settings ?

hopefully this big bang is not a big dud and will fix this problem.
