will this system be able to play unreal 3.0 games, and F.E.A.R. at max details, but without aa and af, at 1600x1200, with playable framerates (i.e. 30?)
thanks

The first game using the engine is going to be the next Unreal Tournment, 2K7, I think its coming out the summer of 06.

okay if you are on of those who buy best of best in 2.5 years then i suggest you do some math ..

lets see when is UT2k7 coming .. late 2006 or possibly 2007 so is about 1.9 or close to 2 years.. since you will be buying a new system anyways whats the point in asking?

thanks guys, however as a quickie, UT2K7 is coming out....wait for it.... Q1 2006.
also, bear in mind that these guys don't bullshit when they say this stuff..... they don't have constant delays.

this is defininte.

BTW - make sure you run FEAR in SFR rather than AFR rendering mode... I hear that makes it zip along nicely. for the demo, that is. :)

no link, but I read it in a uk gaming magazine called PC ZONE, who was the first magazine (world wide) to have a hands on play test of the game.

They didn't play UT2k4.

"The game's still pretty early. We've only been working on it full-time for three months. We figure it'll be out some time in 2006, so at the moment we're calling it UT2007, but that could change. We might not do numbers."

You can see for yourself what that means. We could quote poly counts and tech specs all day, but the simple fact is it looks amazing.

As for your pc being able to play the game. I would say most definitely. If they can play it right now, you should be able to with your system. Ofcourse we can't say how well your system will be able to play the game since technology changes everyday.

Well if you saw the PS3 E3 conference, they showed a demo of Unreal 3 being played on the PS3. Since the RSX graphics synthesizer is comparable to 2 SLIed 6800 Ultras, I'm sure you would be able to run UE3 just fine. I bet you would just need a cpu upgrade or something with UE3 supporting the novodex physics, but I'm pretty sure your graphics are fine.

How the hell is anyone even suppose to know. Sigh.

I believe that it'll be possible to make some kinda of educated guess to the possibilities. My feeling is that it's a "possible yes" in regards to the question.

While it's true that many new games will be pushing the envelopes, they also try to take note of the largest installed base of graphics cards currently so as to garner the most number of purchases. Since the game should provide support for single 6800 setups as a large installed base, I think that the answer will be that it'll run fine on two ultras.

Relax, as you have the SM3.0 already and support for 16xaa in SLI, so it should be just fine. Other than some additional pipelines and vertex shaders, the G70 doens't bring some new "feature" that the Geforce6 doesn't already provide, if I understand it correctly.

Of course this is all based on speculation and could be wrong. Why not wait until the game is released and see before plunking down cash for another graphics upgrade?
