Ya nice system and yes you can build one for about 4000.00...so about 2000.00 cheaper...plus when I build one I will do it with 6800gt sli setup and with my current rig all Ill need to get is the mb, 2 6800gt sli and thats it.... Ill be looking at around 1000.00 dollars to have me a setup just like there 6000.00 setup.
 
Neither can Alienware, They dont have the Parts. available :rolleyes: They add the products when the Companies paper launch there products then out at checkout they add like a 3+ month shipping date :eek: Why dont they just Add FX55 with NV50 SLI and just add another 9 months to the ship date :D

Do those 6800 ultras come with the SL1 bridge, or is sold seperately? The price dosent matter if you bought 2 688 ultras, butit could make a difference if you plan on getting 2 6600 GTs.

LOL so your telling me its impossible to get a ALienware motherboard.... If someone really wanted one and looked hard enough with deep enough pockets they will get one.. :)

And I said it wont be optimized by Alienware. Meaning there software

And all im trying to point out is thats its possible. May be hard and crazy to go through the trouble but possible....

This isn't a special alienware-exclusive sli technology motherboard, those were supposed to work with both nvidia and ati cards. This appears to be a regular SLI motherboard that only works with Nvidia cards, the same you will see on newegg and everywhere else in the coming months - perhaps Alienware abandoned their technology after Nvidia basically released something that was faster than theirs and cheaper for Alienware to implement?

Why would Alienware still bother to develop their technology now that Nvidia has released faster technology that Alienware doesn't need to engineer, write drivers/firmware, etc for?
 
I think what most are failing to realize is that Alienware is the first system builder to bring this technology to market... regardless of who's technology it is. ;)

And that my friends, costs a premium.

There are two x16 *slots* on that board, one has full x16 PCIe bandwidth and the other has x4 PCIe bandwidth. It's still SLi-capable though.

whats with the defensive attitude? they are making about 2000 give or take after warranty and what not.

they dont buy stuff from newegg like you and me, they buy huge quanitities of like parts, well in advance, so they get huge discounts.
including the video cards, which in this case they are probably getting them for a lot less of what they usually pay for them since they are showcasing nvidias technology.

But they are NOT bringing it to market UNTIL Dec :rolleyes: It is still Oct, almost 2month before Dec. And come December the nForce4Ultra motherboard will be for sale with dual PCIe slots, allowing two 6800Ultra's :)

And that price is a frigging joke, you must be a dumb rich bastard to buy an Alienware. Fuck for $6,000.00 I can build a similiar SLI setup, except with a Athlon64 FX-55, and a sweet LCD, like the Samsun24"

So for about $5,500.00 you could build a bad ass SLI system, INCLUDING a wicked LCD, and awesome Klispch 5.1speakers.

So yeah for almost the same price buy it from Alienwhore, you'll just be missing two minor components, a nice monitor and quality speakers :)
 
Wow, I thought it might actually be possible to buy one but it does say ETA (or ship) of Decemeber. Which is probably a good thing, cause I hope they are testing it 24/7 for at least two weeks to make sure its A-OK before they ship to endusers. I get the feeling that the only reason it has one Xeon as opposed to two is that having two would require a 600watt+ powersupply and would not appreciably speed up games (not very many games recognize the second processor, yet)

That, and it may go beyond what a liquid cooled system could handle. BTW, where is the picture of the radiator, the liquid has to go somewhere? I was thinking it would be a huge ass tower like the Zalman reserator.

The radiator is the "bump" on top of the case.

A person could equally call someone a "dumb rich bastard" for spending more than $500 on a computer period. It's all about perspective and what you want to do with your money. Maybe someone prefers the cool look and the tech support of Alienware, maybe someone doesnt have the knowledge, time, or connections to build a PC or have one built but still wants a killer pc. These all could be reasons someone might go for alienware over a self built machine.

I could never justify a 50%+ markup, thats robbery. I feel bad for the newb who will get taken thats buys it. There has to be other shops that would build a newbie a system for alot less than over 50% the cost of the parts ?
