SLI Suddenly not working

Using 2xGTX680 (EVGA)
Win 8.1 Pro 64 Bit
nVidia driver: any

I noticed while using Windows Movie Maker, the entire screen flashes black/white when mousing over any part of that window.

I found out that suddenly SLI is not enabled at all, and I have no option in the control panel to turn it on.

SLI has been working for a month, I confirmed its working using EVGA precision X going out to my G510 keyboard and was able to see both cards working.

I have 3 different SLI bridges, and have swapped out all of them, does not work.
I have reseated both cards, and rearranged all ends of the power coming from the power supply.

I have uninstalled and clean installed same, and older drivers.

If I pull the bridge out and leave it that way, I get what you see in the attached picture: SLI option will appear but I cannot enable it, as it says I need to connect the bridge.

When I reconnect the bridge (after power down), the SLI option vanishes entirely.
Both cards show up in device manager.
I used the 'Clean installation' option when installing same/older drivers from nVidia (but that probably doesnt help)

I will be honest and say that I recently upgraded my CPU/Motherboard/RAM, and added this second card WITHOUT reinstalling windows. However, everything was working for a month. I did NO updates of any kind.

I would be happy to reformat if it would solve, as 8 hours of driver cleaning would drive me mad.

Please help! Thanks.

What motherboard? Do you have the slots setup 8x/8x or 16x/4x?

The motherboard is Asus Z87-A and is configured for 8x/8x, also the cards are the same and the power supply is new as well.

Does the secondary card work at all? Swapped places with the primary?

Tried different PCI-e slots?

That would be the next best step to confirm hardware. To only use the second card, as the first one boots windows and shows windows. I will try this when I get home. If the second card works on its own, then this is probably a software issue.

Here is some proof to show these cards WERE working in SLI (not that anyone demanded proof :)). Picture is Jan 7, so I guess its been 20 days. They worked really really well in SLI!
This was running AC4 on ocean:

Did you install the latest Intel Chipset drivers after your motherboard swap?

Holy moly, I uninstalled my realtek NIC driver, and rebooted. BAM, SLI working again. Unreal. If anyone comes across this post years in the future, the same issue could potentially exist years from now.

The original post I found that fixed this was 2-3 years old already!
