SLI Questions

I apologize if this is a basic question. It has been a while since my last build and this time I am preparing for an SLI build in the near future. I have a few questions:

Do the 2 cards need to be the identical cards (i.e. same model number) or simply the same model (i.e. GTX 580)?

With the introduction of PCI-X 3.0, when cards start becoming 3.0 compliant, will SLI allow for 1 at 2.0 and 1 at 3.0? I understand that the 3.0 card will most likely only run at a 2.0 speed, but curious if it would even work.

Thanks!

same model and memory. im not sure how it works if you have lets say a s/c(super clocked) version and a standard one. on what happens then.

As long as they are the same model and generally the same amount of memory, you will be fine. As for pairing a regular card and a superclocked card, you have to manually set the clocks to be equal.
