I have an 7800gtx right now and was wondering, if/when they come out with a 512mb card, could it be used in sli with a 256mb card if everything else about them was the same?(and why didnt they just make 512mb cards to begin with?)

maybe with the forceware 80 release becuase that release can use videocards in sli from different manufacturers but im not too sure with different memory
 
Nvidia says as long as you're using the same card from the same company, you can use them in SLI mode. I'm thinking that it won't affect SLI behavior but it'll give the 512MB card more room to work with. About the 7800GTX not having more memory, maybe Nvidia tried the 7800gtx with 512MB and its benefit from the extra memory wasn't enough to justify the extra cost.
