can a superclocked 780 be sli'd with a non SC 780 (both reference design)? thanks in advance.
 
Yes, the system will downclock the SC card to match the slower speed of the non-SC card.

I think that is incorrect. The cards do not have to run at the same mhz in SLI, but they would probably perform better at closer clocks.
I would run the SC card in the top slot, and then OC the second card to get the clock speed up as close as possible.

Also, you could flash the non-SC card with a SC bios to give it similar speeds. But that's a little bit of work.

I did not say they had to run at the same speeds. You can mix and match SC vs non-sc cards just fine like I said.

However, they will downclock to match the lowest common denominator in the system. A non-SC card will not magically overclock itself to match the faster card. This is by design. What I said is most certainly correct.

However, what YOU stated is different. Manually overclocking your slower card and your SC card likewise....well that is something you have to do manually. Nothing is stopping you from doing that. Don't confuse what I said vs. what you stated.
