I know this may sound stupid of me but ive asked around to some friends who claim they know their stuff. Can you sli with to different brands?

i acquired an asus 550 ti/di/1gb through a fault of a seller what buying an evga 550 ti.

i asked around to see if i could sli with this. I got all kinds of answers i dont think ive heard enough of one answer to confirm or deny.

ive had people say you can, ive heard it has to be the same card, ive heard it has to be same core clocks. ive heard just about everything and i want to know if you can.

The brands don't matter.

As long as the cards are of the same gpu, in your case the 550ti, with the same amount of ram, they're fine. Even clock speeds don't matter, if you where to pair a stock card with an OC version, the OC version will clock down to the lower card. As long as they're both 550ti's, same ram, etc, it will be fine.

This used to be the case, now the cards will run at their individual speeds. OC/stock would be faster than stock/stock.

Not sure where you see this. I currently have 2 EVGA 680s, one is the O.C. edition, and it down-clocks by default to the standard clock settings. Only if I force a sync in the evga tool will they run at the OC cards speed.

Ok, thanks.

The ASUS one is 1gb and stock, and the EVGA one is also 1gb and it's the FPB edition. So they will work together. Thanks guys!
