So i have Leadtek PX8800GTS GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB and i am thinking about going SLI, would it be safe to get a PNY VCG88GTS5XWB GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB? would they work together? also, if i do this is there something else in the sub 200 dollar range that would out perform 2 8800gts in SLI?

Yes, brand does not matter, just the technical aspects. And no, probably not.

The GTX 260 has been spotted at $220, perticularly the MSI model. That would give two G92 8800GTS's a run for their money, plus you wouldn't have to worry about wierd SLI problems.

And as the guy above me said, brand doesnt matter. SLI will force the same clock speeds on both cards however.

A G92 8800GTS (512MB) and a G80 8800GTS (640MB and 320MB) are completly incompatable in SLI however. Nvidia hasnt created a naming scheme that an a consumer has a hope of understanding in 2 years now.

Someone in another thread said they saw a 4870 for 175, but didn't say where.

But if you can get a second GTS for next to nothing, you might as well unless you have the money to spend.

last question, can i hook up a 3rd monitor to the 2nd 8800gts without any performance loss or issues?
