SLI quadro Counter Strike Benchie

The only thing I can recommend is that you add a home theater setup. I would recommend Paradigm speakers (the most expensive ones u can afford) and a Denon amp/receiver. Enjoy!
Why not just get some headphones?

Answers.

1, I have an atlas drive as the OS, I use the on board scsi chip. In the pics I do not have the atlas in place because it is holding my gold load of 64 bit server 2003. It does not know how to play with another vs of 2003 in the same box. It will go in place when I get the official 2003 64 bit. - and the sata raid will be my D, E, and F drive partitions.

2, The box is used for medical imaging and games. Games are more fun, but work pays for the games.

3. I will switch to the full 2003 ent srv 2003 64 bit when it comes out. I have a VLK and I can use it on the 64 bit vs (at least that's what I read)

4. I am not a huge fan of using my computer for home theater. My home theater is comprised of a Lexicon MC-12, Lexicon RT-10, and 3 Lexicon LX-7 amps. For speakers I bi-amp a pair B&W 803d (main), and three B&W 805d (center/surround). The system is very spartan looking (I like that way) and completely dedicated in its purpose. However, thank you for the suggestion. The speakers you suggested are indeed very good; I've owned a pair.

5. Yes, the box does use OpenGL for work and heavy 2D usage.

6. Sorry, I can't tell you the price. This forum is for exchanging information and that stuff only invites flaming. However, resat assured I did not pay "retail'

7. The Quadros do outperform the 6800 ultras 512 in gaming. The 4400 fx s also perform antialiasing and anistrophic filtering in hardware - instead of software

8. I will post my 3dmark scores in 03, and 05 as soon as I get a valid official driver that supports SLI in 2003 server from nvidia and for SpecPerf 8.01

Hope this helps

ah.. an atlas. cool :D

i wasnt aware of cards that did that in hardware... neat info.

Holy cow, that system must cost in the 10,000 dollar area....i mean seriously....is this a 3d workstation or fileserver or gaming machine???? (i want that 1.45TB too :))

Doc...thats sick money in there man.

sick

(no pun)

welp, wooowwww. nice setup. i guess since you already have a VL copy of ent the price doesn't matter. just think it's a waste when xp pro or standard server 64-bit would cost less and have a tiny bit less overhead.

Dude just OC the quadros with coolbits, OC the Opties, then download the 71.xx drivers from nv's website.

then bench 03 and 05! ill be very happy if u could do the Doom3 timedemo as well. The Quadros really do own in OpenGL.

As well they should :) ~$2,300/4400 vs ~$750/6800Ultra512MB

@Gavinni

Funny..., I have owned both ultras and quadros in SLI - how do you know that the quadros Do NOT outperfom the ultras in gaming? The visuals and benchmarks show that they do.

Show me a a comparison that outdoes what I have experienced please.

Please remember that I have posted screenshots and benchmarks from both configurations.

Also, I am running in 64 bit and on a TYAN 2895. Each SLI channel has a dedicated CPU as well as a dedicated GPU. Each channel has also dedicated 8GB of RAM. (tot16GB)
which gives me the ability to feed the cards information as fast as they need it across both channels.

In my rig with two channels, the quadros DO outperform the ultra 512s by about 22%.

Can you show me screenshots on the same rig with both cards in SLI mode against each other?

I am curious where your information comes from, could I see the link?

This is not in any way rude, I would like to learn from the source because I do feel like a maverick going at this alone. I personnally have found no one else to chat about a similar build where I can exchange ideas and improve my setup/config/and tweaks.

Please help me discover where the rig is coming up short. I welcome any constructive advice. I'm always out to gleam more speed from the box.

I have not seen screenshots with the high settings and the fps as the one below yet for CS anywhere else. This screen shot was done on the following Rig:

Dual Opterons 252 step E, Tyan s2895, SLI quadro fx 4400s 512 SLI, 16GB of RAM, 1.5 Terabytes of Raided storage, win enterprise 2003 64bit:

picture of the box to prove it exists can be found at www.k8we.com (Venturi)

In Painkiller 1.62 the following benchie showed this result:

"~ benchmark c5L1" - 211.48 FPS at all eye candy and 1600x1200
"~ benchmark c5L2" - 172.34 FPS at all eye candy and 1600x1200

screenshots available at www.2cpu.com (forum) and www.nvnews.net (forum)

try both benchmarks on the ultra 512 SLI and post your score.

Otherwise, I am understandably curious where your information comes from, could I see the link?

Yes yes run 3d Mark 03 thats something id like to see since im considering a Dual Qaudro setup.

This looks confusing can you take another pic of your cards.

oh yea, can you show us the back of the cards as well? i'd love to see 4 dual-link dvi outputs.

so this setup could run dual 30" ACD's???? :D that would be [H]awt.

Yeah which is why I was asking about the dual link DVI. :)

So I can assume that the Quadro 3400 are 6800GTs? (Sorry, I know close to nothing about the Quadro line.)

Funny....

You know, this is why I avoid answering the question of how much the pc costs...

Dual 512mb quadros alone cost 3000$
your total 8x ram 3200 i believe cost 1600$?

i would say your pc costs between 6500 - 9500$

And where are Quadros with anything more then 256mb found? Not trying to be an ass but i havent seen any Nvidia Core cards with 512mb released to any retailers in any quantity. Not even OEM. Only card im aware of thats actually for sale with more then 256 is the Realizm. Nvidia does have plans to release a 4000 and 4400 Quadro with 512, but i'll bet good money his cards are 2 Quadro 3400s.

I ask because people are randomly assuming their 512 for no reason.

I can find the FX4400 on nvidia's website?
Nivida website

Quote:
FX4400
Memory Size 512MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Graphics Memory Bandwidth 35.2GB/sec.
Graphics Bus PCI Express

And they are for sale here in Denmark so I guess they are relased? :)

Terra - Confused? :)

I don't think he's going to be.

Also, I've seen both the 512MB FX440 and a 512MB 6800 Ultra(but it wasn't retail) in person.

You people suck at the Internet. if you do a little search you will find that ATAcom.com has Quadro FX4400 512MB PCIe Verion for about 2500$ USD a pop.

They are available right now, just fucking expensive. About what I make in one whole month

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was going to get my $50 from him dude......

All you had to do is go to froogle.com and type in quadro 4400.....it wasn't that hard.

You people suck at the Internet

Werd

I have a general question but first a comment.

I always thought that professional cards sucked for gaming. The only thing to base that off of was people telling me "oh quadros suck for games, they are meant for 3d pro apps"

Apparetnly people dont know what they are talking about... They just arent worth the 2000$ price difference. so they are not even mentioned.

However saying that, it looks like they do rock in gaming, better so than the 6800 series because it infact is based off the 6800 core just tweaked and what not to make it faster in games as well as 3d apps

Now my question... if the Quadros are Faster in games compared to the 6800 series.... does this mean that the Fire GL cards are faster than their radeon counterparts as well?

I was just looking on futuremark and your 05 score is 400 higher than the highest they have recorded. And that was on a promethia chilled system with liquid nitrogen on 6800Ultras

To answer your question -I don't know if the FireGL card would be faster than its gaming ATI counterpart. Judging from ATI's driver implimentation - the OpenGL driver on the Fire I would hope is better than on their gaming card.

2nd - yes I know the score I posted was several hundered points higher than the record, even after I rounded doen the average.

With 16GB of RAM, ram drive, 2 of the 512mn cards SLIed and dual opteron 252 - my score is actually in line with similar post6s on the net with similar setups.

I want to know why it actually isn't faster???
