short and sweet.

evga gtx 460 1gb sli setup. everything worked fine, then had the dreaded nvlddmkm.sys bluescreen crash.

loaded my backup image and all was well again except no sli option in control panel.

cleared cmos, reinstalled drivers (clean included), pulled one card installed drivers installed other card reinstalled drivers. in various orders trying to get sli option back.

finally got sli option back today and everything is screwed up.

all my games flicker and run around 10-12 fps. evga precision reports that the second card is using 4194307 mb mem.

everything works fine using single card, and thats both cards (i.e. only one card installed at a time)

no idea what is causing this and cant find anything searching the net.

any ideas? or has this happened to anyone else?

Install each card alone and stress test. Sounds like one fo your cards is defective.

how long should each stress test last?

Honestly stress test for no more than 2 hours. If a card is breaking/broken a stress test will fail within that time frame or sooner. Just make sure you really tax the cards with something strenuous.

Also look into disabling realtek nic card/drivers as they have known issues with GTX 4xx and 5xx SLi. Perhaps there was some steps that you did before in your old installation of windows that have since forgotten to do since reimaging your hdd.

tested both individually last night. first card did just fine, second card locked up after about an hour.

going to upgrade later this week. ty for the help.

No problem, sorry about the card failing. Maybe you can RMA the bad card and sell them.
