SLI or Single

I am in the process of building a new comp... I am unsure of whether to go with an SLI configuration of 2x Geforce 6800 XT in SLI or a single 7600 GT

Any advice? If i do go with the single 7600, it is highly likely that I will upgrade later on and add a second. I don't know if it is worthwhile to do that or not.

Thanks

I would personally go with the 7600GT to hold off until DX10 comes out.

the only reason to go SLI is if you are buying the 2 TOP cards, because anyting less can usually be beaten out by a single high end card.

sure 2 x 7900GT's give a single 7900 GTX a run for it's money, but how much.... but which options give you a better upgrade path, and especially if your NOT running hi resolutions......

i would only ever go SLI or Crossfire if i was buying 2 of the top end cards.

well, what if someone buys one card, and finds that later that buying another for SLi would be a cheaper upgrade than buying a new card?

Thanks, I will go with the 7600GT. Why wait for dx10? Should I wait to buy until dx10 is out, or what?

DX10 is really a Vista thing. While DX10 GPU's might be out a little before Vista, really, I don't see the point in worrying about it till then. Sure, you want your hardware to last, but there info going around that the first DX10 are going to power whores.

If you can wait, then wait. Waiting is the best thing to do when it comes to technology. But if you have a need/want now, then don't worry about DX10. That's really six months out at least, until its useful anyway.
