Hi.
I have two leadtek 6800 ultra in an a8n-sli in a lian-li v1000.
my load temps on the back card are 90C.
I am changing to nv5 on the both of them so that the heat is ported out the back, however if I put a 120mm fan in the side of the case right by the gfx cards, would this make a difference?

Well, 90C is pretty high but then again, leadtek's design is made for quiet operation over temps...it's the reason I went against Leadtek when I originally planned on using Leadtek as my GF3 from them works really well. Your best bet would be a set of NV5's more than likely, but say good bye to the warrenty. ;)
 
well what are the temps on your evga card when overclocked?
also would the fan idea work? it is really just the dual slots in sli thing isn't great...

If I'm not mistaken, my card stays around 74C load, but I'm not positive...also depends on my CPU speeds as my XP-120 can dump alot of hot air in my case.
 
also, my xp-120 w. silenx 120mm fan idles at low 40, and load around 47 with an #
fx-55@stock
is this good?
also, would the fan idea with the graphics cards work?

Where exactly do you plan on putting the 120mm? In the standard exhaust location? It might help your temps a bit, more intake would be more effective i think (dont put it at the back) But NV5s will more than likely solve your problem on their own.
 
my load in SLI is close to 100C they're fine, although I am getting watercooling asap. They're not gonna blow up in the next month or anything.

I want very high stabillity, and for this to last me for like 2.5 years....

i think the best i have seen on air cooling is like 60C and the highest i have seen people let it go to is 100C perhaps the average is about 70C for the good ones
 
not sure, people usualy do not let it go past 90 but some people do not care, i would keep it as low as you can get it
