4 SATA headers under SI controller...
4 SATA headers under nVidia controller...

Is one better than the other, as it pertains to performance or overclocking?

If so, why?

nVidia has higher thoroughput (iirc), but doesn't support raid5. The Si controller isn't integrated into the chipset aswell as the nvidia one, making the nvidia better to use when OC'ing

true, in a way, the nvidia does indeed have higher throughput, but the SI is less likely to corrupt your drives if you lose your PCI lock.
