i believe my mobo was really designed to be sli..but later on with firmware updates it is. which i think is a problem. the cooling fans are kinda close to each other at least for the top card
right now card #1 is at 54c
card#2 is at 46c

i put a 120mm fan blowing inbetween the two from the side. i dont know if that is doing more good than harm. or should i have the fan blowing down from the top of Card#1 on the pcb? i would like to use stock heatsinks as much as possible

The top card will always run hotter in a SLI setup. I'd install a 120mm in the drive bay blowing towards the upper card.

P.S. Hard to tell, but it looks as if your HDs are mounted even with the cards. If you can mount them lower, their heat won't stackup with the card's as much.

would the 120mm be more efective there? cause i have one now but its pointing on the side near the end of the cards. i could mount the hard drive lower since its on the top rack of the cage

Both my main system and secondary have both side intake and 120mm's mounted in the drive bay.
The main in a Antec 1200 the secondary in a Antec P182SE.
They help keep the heat from stacking up in the cases.

You could try moving the side mounted to the drive bay and watch your temps to see which helps most.

i might give it a shot...but i think 53-55 idle is ok? also does enabling physics gonna make it work harder hence making it warmer?

53-55 is about 10 degrees hotter than mine currently run at idle. Though not hot, getting them cooler will help once they are under load.

I F@H 24/7, so my cards get a workout. The more work your cards do, the hotter they will be under load.
High resolution/AA/AF/PhysX, all will load the cards more.

yea my second card is about 7 degrees cooler than the main card..these are idle.

I have the same issue with two gtx280s. There is a 120mm blowing from the case door directly on the sides of the two cards then there is one coming from the drive bays blowing directly into the two cards.

I get 41C & 47C idle temps but if I run Crysis Warhead or something really heavy duty they jump to like 77 & 85. It gets even worse if I do FurMark's gpu test.. It got up to 88/94 before I just quit out.

I am just considering removing 1 for now since I rarely need two of them (even at 2560x1600). If I do that though then I am basically telling myself that it was a waste of money to get a second one, and I dont want to come to that realization only two months after building the computer.
