I just ordered a couple gtx 460 se's because the price was too good to pass up. I am getting each one for $100 after rebate which isn't "great" but I'm fortunate enough to have 2 different mailing addreses so I get to get the free photoshop elements 9 twice which will both go on ebay which after selling those I should be into both cards for a total under $100 but from what I've read they don't come with an sli bridge.

I do have an SLI bridge from I believe some biostar MB I bought a long time ago when sli first came out, this is like a first gen sli bridge, have they changed at all? I just want to make sure if it isn't going to work that I can get one on order so it's here to install these cards. This thing is many many years old, and I just want to be sure using it I'm not going to fry something? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've never ran sli, only crossfire or single cards and the cards i crossfired came with their own bridge so I knew it'd work

This thing doesn't say sli bridge on it or anything, just says BRI-2 VER:1.0 (can't find it on google) and on the back it says A01/---- if that stuff means anything, I'm almost certain it's from a biostar mb because it's red like an old biostar board I used to have and I "think" I remember it being sli

here are some pics

is that what this is? and even though it is as old as can be is the design the same? I appreciate the help

As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any changes to the actual connector part of th bridge. If there was some kind of incompatibility, you would see mention of it somewhere(mainly from Nvidia themselves) in order to protect themselves from customers who then can't get SLI working.

The pin locations are reference designed by nVidia. There is no way to make it work other than how nVidia specified.

well that's a good thing this should work so I can save a few bucks. Sorry for the dumb question but I appreciate the responses. I'm upgrading this PC (e8400, 4gb (2gbx2) ddr2) with sli gtx 460 se's because the 9600gt (512mb) isn't cutting it anymore. During the free weekend of Brink I really seen my 9600gt suffer. I'm trying to hold out on a full PC upgrade until the bulldozer is released so I can see how it compares to intel's offerings.

You will see such a difference coming up from the 9600 GT it isnt even funny lol... in fact, I'm surprised that the 9600 GT ever cut it at all !!

Yeah, it'll work if the distance between the cards is the same. You might want a flexible connector though, just for ease of use.

low settings my friend. I tried medium with Bad Company 2 and it was horrible, so that's why I'm in the process of a full upgrade before BF3 release. This PC has lasted me a long time, but its days are near and it will be converted to replace my current server. I've probably used this PC for a good 5 years with 1 CPU upgrade and a couple video card upgrades. I think it originally had an x600 xt or something like that, then to a 7600 gt then the 9600gt but it's at its limit with the pretty much dead LGA 775. I assume 1155 or am3+ depending on benchmarks with the hopes of the new PC lasting another 5 years. I know the video cards I bought aren't top end but with the photoshop promo (ebay here I come) and rebate I'll have what, $40 at most into each card? way too good of deal to pass up and it'll get me by but I'm sure it'll be my first upgrade in a couple years. I'm sick of playing on low settings, I want eye candy this time with as much time I spend gaming. I'm surprised I put up with it this long, never again!

that isn't a bad idea, especially with not being certain of the configuration of the future MB I get when the bulldozer is released. I want to see some benchmarks/reviews to verify the claims of it supposedly being better than sandy. I'd hate to buy a sandy now and be disappointed in a couple months for not waiting. With this bridge I'm forced to give horrible airflow to the card on top. A flexible one will definitely be more versatile so I'll probably throw one in when I decide on a new mb/cpu since including it in a shipment I may save a few dollars on shipping but I'll use this one to get me by for now, seems it'll fit fine on this MB I got my tracking # today, now I patiently wait til the UPS man shows up on friday with my new goodies. I'm gonna finally put this 650w seasonic to use
