SLI & Available Monitors within Nvidia Control Panel...

Maybe someone with SLI & 2 or 3 monitors can test this for me...

NVIDIA says the following:

2-way SLI® on all NVIDIA® GeForce® GPUs
Plug two monitors into the connectors on one of the GPUs. Users can choose either GPU to use, but both monitors must be plugged into the same GPU.

So does that mean I should be able to run any of the following ?


a) Display 1 (Card 1)
or
b) Display 1 (Card 1) or Display 2 (Card 1)
or
c) Display 3 (Card 2)

I am worried that Nvidia Control Panel will sense the displays on GPU1 and lock me out of the displays available on GPU2 if i ever with to toggle GPU1 displays off and just use the GPU2 display...


I want to be able to view either my 2x 22" panels OR my single 47" HDTV... I was planning to plug the 22" monitors into the top SLI card and set up a ultramon profile for just those two monitors to be on....

and then set up another profile for my HDTV to just be on by itself and I would plug it into the 2nd SLI card... (according to SLI you can you either card as your display outs....)

BUT! Will Nvidia Control Panel lock out the other display ports on the 2nd card if there are disabled monitors plugged into card 1?

Can anyone test this for me? I would thinking having 1 monitor into each card and trying to switch between the two would prove that my idea would work....I really dont want to have to disable SLI to view my hdtv.
 
If you're not running Surround then you can plug two monitors into one card and that's it.

Thats lame... so i can't turn off the two monitors plugged into card 1 and turn on a single monitor plugged into card 2 ?

Cause the requirements for 2d surround are outrageous... and im not buying a new motherboard and case so that nvidia can try to con me into buying a 3rd "accessory" card. Guess things are going to be staying the same.

Guess im sticking with a single GPU for gaming... dont really need SLI at 1680x1050 anyways..

I really want to do this because the video renderer I use for playing 1080p H264 on my HDTV (madVR) can be quite taxing on a gpu... guess ill just use the accelero cooler on my GT 220 and overclock it a bit more.

What I said earlier wasn't complete. You can run monitors independetly in SLI without Surround turned on. In my case I could have 6 monitors running independently, two monitors in each card.

thats impossible...

How do you run more than 2 monitors with SLI on ?

Your saying that with SLI ON, you get independent output from all ports? I thought you had to turn SLI OFF for that to happen ?
