Is a Corsair HX850 enough for GTX 470s in SLI as well as an overclocked i7, or is that shaving it too close? If it's not enough I'm either looking at a tx950 or the 1000w Corsair. Any thoughts?

By the way, my UPS is rated up to 980w I believe. It's almost five years old, should I get a new UPS or just invest in a line conditioner? I live in an old house with troublesome power. Thank you.

You would be fine. I'm using an HX750 in my system right now with dual 470s in SLI, and my 920 is running at 3.8 GHz. At max load it pulls around 700W from the wall, which means the real power draw of the components is actually closer to 615W or so after the efficiency conversion.

With an HX850 you'd be even better off, unless you have a hilarious number of hard drives. I have four in my system.

Ok, that's about the same scenario I'm looking at. I have 4 hard drives also. Thanks for your input.
