SLI 9800GTX now?

I have 2 friends (brothers) who went out and bought 9800GTX's on Monday. One of them bought 2, the other only bought one with the intention of buying another soon. They both also got some EVGA 780i motherboards. Mind you, I told them a week ago to wait until the new offerings from ATI and Nvidia were released. Right now, looking at some of the newer 4850 CF benchamarks posted in the other threads, how stupid of a decison did they just make?

dont say how good the next gen are... they bought themm.. let them be happy with their purchase.. is not such a 'bad' decision... and a 9800GTX should be more than enough for the average gamer... any more is just e-peen

also... artificial benchmarks dont mean a hell of a lot these days... must i drag out the example being the hd radeon 2900???

do they want to play games TODAY or next month/... you can wait and wait and wait and wait.. or you can just buy a freaking video card.. is not a major life decision...
 
yeah, i'd say its a good buy. They sure seem to take on, even beat a GTX 280 which goes for $600.
