I am sleeving my PSU with the Vantec kit and had a couple of questions...

1. The hair dryer method doesn't seem to work for me, so I used a fireplace starter instead. It seemed to work after a few seconds but does this hurt the wires? It gets pretty hot.

2. How do you get around the long cable with many molex connector problem? I had a line that was about 1.5 feet long with 4 molex connectors on it. The problem is I can't get the sleeving down between the last molex plug and the PSU. I have to bundle all segments together but the bundle becomes too big. Any advice?

Hey, here are a few things you can do to make the process go fast i used the same kit take off the molex's with a molex remover. Get some eletrical tape and bunch the prongs together and everything slides right over with ease. As for the heatshirnk and hair dryer method that doesnt work to well, what i did was spent what $25 went to the home depot and got a millwalkie heatgun and more heatshink much better results!This is after i did it the same way you did but i used a candle.....anyways i wish you luck!! and happy modding!!!

used a candle here.. works great. I second the electrical tape method, I wish I had a molex remover, but I found a really small precision screwdriver and some skill worked fairly well too. All at 3 am in the morning (couldn't sleep, so I sleeve my psu... lol)
 
i wish i had as easy of a tiem as you guys did. i ended up tearing off a molex pin itself, like i tore the wire out of the pin, so i lost one plug and i used a set of tweezers for the whole thing. but hey, the results sure do look nice! good luck with the sleeving
 
Oh, one more question. Does the order of the two grounding wires matter on a standard molex plug?
 
i dont think it does but some PSU manuals say one is for 12v and one is 5v so yeah i donno
 
I tested continuity on the ground wires of the molex plugs, they are both the same so it doesn't matter which order you put them in.
 
tisk tisk, wheres the fun in a pre-sleeved psu? :p

My Thermaltake 680w was pre sleaved but they were all such horrible colours I went and redid it. hours and hours of fun :p
