sleeving question

i am sleeving the wires from my PSU...the molex connectors were a cinch with the included Vantec Molex Remover.. though my question is how do I go about removing the pins from the Floppy Connector?
 
Those mini-molex are enought small for you to slide the cover over them.
 
i would like to use the smallest sleeving and it wont fit over the mini molex..

Use something small, like a mini screwdriver or the point of a pocket knife to push the metal on the top side, then pull the cable that corresponds to the metal you are pushing. The wire should come out without problems. once you get the first one out, you will figure out how simple the mechanism is.

If you push too hard or too far with the screwdriver, you will bend the metal flap inwards. Remember to bend it outwards a little bit before you re-insert it so it will latch-on.
 
If you also want to sleve the ATX power cable, the best tool (other than buying one) will be an open staple. It is the perfect size to push back the metal flaps that act as latches.
 
When I did my power supply, I used a safety pin for the floppy connectors. Slide it in through the top of the exposed metal, push down and pull the wire out. I know it's easier said than done, but it works pretty well.
 
Although the best way is to use a tool. You can get one for <$10 and not screw up a more expensive (hopefully) PSU
 
i have been busy, but tried once again to remove the mini molex with no results.. i can't move the wire clips enough to pull the pins out
 
I just used a jewler's screwdriver... floppy molex and fan connectors are a cinch... all you need is something small enough to manipulate the little clips inside the connector. The best (read cheapest) I've read so far that I've used myself is a safety pin.

Lets see:

Jewlers/Eyeglass screwdriver
Unbent staple
Xacto blade
20 guage, solid core copper wire
blah blah blah

Holy crap, I did something right? All this time I figured I was just using the first thing I found in the junk drawer instead of spending $10 of beer money on the proper tool.
 
now that i know the proper tool.. what action do you take? do you push down on the pin from the top of the mini molex, or stick it in the slot and then push down? or what
 
Looking down at the top of the floppy connector you should be able to see 4 small silver clips exposed through holes in the actual molex connector. If you look really close you'll notice these little clips have a very small barb on them right where they touch the back of that hole. All you need to do is depress the clip enough to push that barb below the back lip of the connector.

1) Push the wire you're working on all the way forward.
2) GENTLY apply pressure to the barb on the silver connector.
3) While still applying that same VERY light pressure on the barb pull the wire out of the back of the molex.

You're going to need two hands for this job. After a little while you'll get good enough that you can actually push the clip out of the molex connector using the same tool as what you're using to depress the barb. The only thing to watch out for is that if you push too hard on that barb you'll crush the connector and then it's just about ruined.

Just use very light pressure and take your time and you'll have it done in a minute.
