Sleeving Case Fans?

I am wanting to sleeve some of my Yate Loon case fans with black sleeving and black shrink wrap however I am not sure what size sleeving I will need? I normally shop at www.performance-pc.com since they're 20 minutes from me. Does anyone know what size sleeving / wrap I will need for small cables like case fans and the case power connections to the motherboard?

I am trying not to sound like a total moron but there are like 100 different options and sizes and I really have no idea which one I need. I don't need anything fancy - just want simple black sleeving to hide the ugly wire color cables. :D

if you can physically go there.. just bring in a fan and go from there..
 
Just to let anyone else know...1/4 is way too small. Just found this out the hard way...:mad:
 
I can see you maybe ... I mean maybe fitting one thin wire/cord through 1/4 however when you have a fan with red, black, black, yellow wires, there is no way that is going to sleeve through 1/4. If so, I would like to see a pic of someone managing that miracle.
 
To sleeve properly, one must always remove the connector first.

tape the ends too so they slip through. The first bit of sleeving always gets destroyed but thats what the tape is for.
 
1/4'' is somewhat bulky for sleeving a fan.
1/8'' is PERFECT. ;)

How do you guys know which size heatshrink to use? Should I use the same size heatshrink as the sleeving(1/8), or should I go the next step up for heatshrink (1/4)?
 
Size depends on the look you are after. Choose 1/8 if you want to see the wires through the sleeving. Choose a bit bigger if you want the sleek black look. :D Always remove the connector or you will have to use oversize sleeving material!

i braid and sleeve everything i can and two lead i heat up an extra wire pull out the copper and use the isolation in the braid when possable. 1/8' works the best for everything below psu power lead size with 1/4" 3to1 heat shrink. psu leads need 1/4" sleeve and atx pluge needs 1/2" sleeve.

i braid for peace of mind (its all in my head, no one can see the braids unless light passes through). i also think it looks good for a bit of te braid to show at the ends of the sleeve so i use clear heat shrink.

my loop is also sleeved with 1/2" which i am sure has been done but i havnt seen it before. My Rig
