Not sure if im posting this in the right spot or not but, when i put my computer to sleep should it sound like it shuts off and hear nothing running, because when i put it to sleep right now it just sound like it shuts the hdd off and everything else is still running.
 
Some motherboards handle sleep differently also. When mine (Intel GA board) wakes up, it just turns the monitor on and it says loading desktop and it appears in a few seconds. I know someone who when they wake there's up (Nvidia XFX board), the motherboard logo flashes and goes through a few things, then the desktop appears. It's much slower, you just don't get the loading windows progress, but it's almost as long as a strait boot.
 
the computer should totally shut off...

a computer when powered off uses 1-2 watt

a computer in sleep mode uses 5-8 watts.. so it works very very well
 
Ya, it should use just enough power so the data can stay in ram. Hybernation the computer is completely off, since the current state is saved to the hard drive
 
I found the problem, i guess there is different sleep mode options in the bios S1 and S3, mine was set on S1 which is for it not to turn off, S3 totally turns the computer off.
