Slave HDD problems

Sorry for the n00b problem...Ok this is a simple problem but I can't seem to fix it....I have 2 rigs, each with this problem, I just put in new backup drives for both. They are reconized by the Bios as slave drives to the primary HDD, and they show up as "working properly" in Device manager...but no icon, or way to get into them from what I can tell...
My setups are...Seagate 80Gb w/ Western Digital 120gb as slave, for backup...and WD 74GB raptor w/ 200 Gb seagate for backup.

Have you partitioned them yet?

In Windows XP, you can partition the secondary drives by right clicking "My Computer" and going to Disk Management, and then choosing the particular hard drive to partition.
